History
         The Department of Chemistry was organized by Daw Tin Tin Win, Head of the Department of Chemistry of the Institute of Medicine (1) in 1991. First required the chemicals and apparatus were provided by the Department of Chemistry of the Institute of Medicine (1).
         The teaching staffs at the beginning consisted of Daw Tin Tin Win, M.Sc. (Rgn) as Lecturer and Head, and some teaching staffs from Department of Chemistry of the Institute of Medicine (1).
         In May 2001, the Institutes was transferred to Waibargi Township, North Okkalapa. The Chemistry Department, hasn't been established, came under the guidance of Daw Mya Mya (M. Sc) Lecturer/ Head and teaching staffs of the Department of Chemistry of the Institute of Medicine (2), Yangon.
         In December 2001, its own Department was established and since then it was run by Daw Mi Mi Lay, (M.Sc.) Lecturer and Head of the Department until 2006 March.
         Now the Department is run by Daw Sanda Wynn (M.Sc.) as Lecturer and Head since 2006.
 
Aim and Objectives
Aim
  • To produce qualified pharmacists to improve health and quality of life of citizens of Myanmar.
 
Objectives
At the end of the course the graduates should:
  1. Be able to perform their professional tasks and responsibilities in health teams by the knowledge of pharmaceutical technology and services related to pharmaceutical care.
  2. Have acquired the knowledge of pharmacy administration pertaining to professional practice.
  3. Be competence in the application of knowledge in practice with sound humanity.
  4. Have acquired the knowledge of the health care delivery system.
  5. Have a foundation for further specialization in industry, in teaching, in hospitals, in community pharmacy, in drug administration and management, in research and in drug information.
  6. Be capable of promoting self- directed, life-long learning so that pharmacists can respond appropriately to change health needs and advances in pharmaceutical knowledge and technology.
  7. Have the capability to think analytically, reason logically and ethically.
  8. Have developed capabilities to do research in pharmaceutical sciences.
