History of the Department
The department of Pathology came into existence after the establishment of the University of Pharmacy (Yangon) in May, 2001.  The department was first run by Prof. Dr. Aye Aye Myint who was the Head of Pathology Department, University of Medicine 2.  Pathology  is one of  the subjects in the third year, B.Pharm course. It was started in (2001-2002) academic year.
 
Aim and Objectives
Aim
After graduation, the learner should be able to apply the concepts of pathology as supportive knowledge and skill  in his/her profession as a Pharmacist
 
Departmental Objectives
At the end of the course, the learner should be able to
  1. Acquire the knowledge of General Pathology and basic pathological processes with more emphasis on common diseases encountered in Myanmar (K)
  2. Recognize the signs and symptoms of some important diseases so as to promote the prescription and rational use of drugs (K, S)
  3. Perform the effective communication with health providers and the public regarding health matters in drug therapy (S)
  4. Appreciate and apply the knowledge of fundamental pathology in clinical pharmacy
      (S, A)
  1. Have awareness of the vital role of pathology in the field of health education and health promoting services (A)
