Course for Undergraduate
Department of Pharmaceutics is responsible for undergraduate program, the courses mainly focus on the basic and fundamental knowledge and skills required for the pharmaceutical calculation, Compounding and dispensing, pharmaceutical technology, pharmaceutical microbiology, immunological products, bio-pharmaceutics, drug stability and stability testing, pharmaceutical management, pharmaceutical marketing, hospital pharmacy, pharmacy practices and Law.
Aim
To produce competent pharmacist who are skillful in Pharmaceutics.
Objectives
At the end of the course, the learner should be able to

Acquire principles and practice of pharmaceutical technology, dosage form, design, drug delivery, manufacturing, packaging and quality assurance (K,S,A)

Perform skillful dispensing and formulation of pharmaceutical dosage forms. (S)

Develop sound habits of self learning and thinking to problem solving regarding pharmaceutics. (S,A)

Apply principles of pharmaceutical technology used in industries. (S)

Apply principles of different method of sterilization process for any pharmaceutical products

Acquire the knowledge of the different aspects of general principle of microbiology used in pharmacy or pharmaceutical products.

Adopt principles of pharmacy administration including management, marketing, pharmacy law and ethical principles pertaining to professional practice of pharmacy. (S,A)

Disseminate drug information to other health professionals, patients and the general care system. (A)

Be aware of the importance of effective communication skill to be applied in primary health care system. (A)

Describe the principles of important GMP guidelines to be used in drug manufacturing. (K)

Describe and perform the test methods in detail for quality control of different solid dosage forms. (K)

Enumerate and analysis of the different type of tablet that can be produced. (K)

Acquire the properties, mechanism of action and uses of the different classes of disinfectants and antiseptics that are in pharmaceutical practice.(K)

Relate Good manufacturing Practice (GMP) to the preparation of effectively preserved pharmaceutical products. (S)
Courses for Postgraduate
The courses provided by department of pharmaceutics for postgraduate students are two parts: industrial pharmacy and social and administrative pharmacy. The courses of the former are as follow: Dosage form design and Manufacture, Pre-Formulation Study, Disperse System, Quality Management System, Pharmaceutical Pricing and Policy, and Formulary System. The courses of the latter are as follow: Drug Procurement System, Dispensing and Risk Management, Drug Management, Drug System Analysis, Pharmaceutical Administration and Management, Laws and Ethics in Pharmacy Practice, and Purchasing and inventory Management.

Objectives
At the end of the course, the learner should be able to

acquire knowledge on mastery of theory and principle of development on pharmaceutical dosage forms with emphasis on good manufacturing practice

apply the knowledge to be able to determine drug delivery designs to meet the individual needs of the drugs therapy
-
evaluate critically the literature on drugs and have the communication skills and confidence to interact effectively with medical staff in hospitals and general practice, and with other health care professionals, and thus promote the safe and effective use of drugs

encourage the student to involve in professional associations at national and regional levels where applicable
